Is Macy's Hotel Collection the same mattress as the Ultra Plush from The Sleep Shoppe ? - chelliep
Apr 13, 2010 12:37 PM
We originally ordered the Englander Soft Touch made from Dunlop Latex and it was too soft... so we exchanged it for what the Sleep Shoppe calls the Stearns and Foster Oasis series Saybrook model.  I asked what was inside it but  they said they don't know.. just that it's latex..  I looked at Macy's and this looks exactly like the mattress we bought... it's the same height and they both say it's Ultra Plush although it's firmer than the other Oasis model S&F the Sleep Shoppe carries. The cost is about the same so..is there any way to know if it is indeed the same mattress ??  It's being delivered Friday..  It's firmer than the Englander without being hard..and it doesn't feel "soft", whatever that means.  Outside of the Temperpedic and other Memory Foam mattresses... this S&F was the firmest latex mattress in the store..

Eagle, I do believe that the 100% natural Talalay latex mattress offered by Sleepez is three layers of 3" latex:

Hi Kimberly. Go here and see what you think.

This is where I always wind up when I select there 13000. I see your point regarding the link you show. However you must extrapolate the dimensions based on a picture that is different from the link I posted.

I just wish there website was a little more clear and a little bit easier to operate. I'm not accusing them of anything. And it may just be that I am a poor operator of websites, or just don't get it! But it has always seemed to me that SleepEZ would prefer to sell you the...

At over 200 lbs do not waste any of your time trying out a Cloud Series Mattress.  Start with something like a DeluxeBed....then maybe try a few of the higher priced HD models to see if they are more comfortable for you.

It is very critical to take your time laying down on these mattresses as Garypen has already suggested.  Lay on them in your own natural sleep position's.  Sometimes the subtle differences between one model and another may not be immediately apparent to you.  So it is okay to go back and forth a few times between the models you liked.  If you do happen to enjoy any of the Tempur Pillows use the same one you like on each mattress you lie down on....if you don't like any of the pillows ask for one thats different and use it on each mattress as well.

Natalia - #1 has always been my #1 choice, as well. But, even with Costco's excellent return policy, I'm still having a hard time convincing her.

I was also already considering #2. But, even with the guarantee, TP's prices are kinda steep. I suppose I could buy the motorized frame locally. But, $5K is a lot for the matts alone.

Thanks for the tip about Sleep Train. I thought all the chain stores had only exchange guarantees. It's good to know one has a money-back guarantee. OTOH, ST's prices were pretty steep. Looks like full MSRP on everything. Do they haggle like the others?

Gary, I forgot to tell you Mattress Discounters is owned by Sleep Train. MD has better prices but no money back, and only a 60 night...

Thanks Leo.  That does look pretty swank.

I went to the International Shipping portion of the US Sears website, and they claimed to ship all over the world, yet won't let me select "Canada" from the drop down menu.  They must be trying to force me to buy the crappy products from Sears Canada instead. That's annoying! angry

I guess I could arrange for a proxy buyer in the US if US Sears is the only good place that has something I could use, but that will be a major pain in the butt. sad

I don't really know what I want either, other than that I want my bed to look as classy as possible and also to have high-quality and comfortable fabrics on it.

I live in Canada.

Don't have Penneys here AFAIK.

Sears is one of the local department stores I went to, the Bay was the other

At Sears, they only had brands that I've never heard of before, and the consumers who bought some of those products complained about them on the Sears website. Brands like "Whole Home" IIRC.  Plus, almost all the Sears products that I looked like were full of polyester. I hate polyester and all synthetic fabrics, due to pilling and shrinkage and other such issues.  Most of Sears' products weren't even in the store itself; they told me to go search the catalogue, which was just a link to the Sears Canada website.

The Bay was a little better, they at least had name brands I'd heard of and many 100% cotton products. But the selection was very limited,...

Thank you for the response! The bed is pretty new and the foam is fine. I was thinking the box spring could be warped somehow due to the lack of a center support. I think my deciding factor comes down to the fact that the bed is a bit too bouncy for my taste. It's hard to enjoy a night with the girlfriend :)

Since I do have a select comfort at home of which I'm happy with, I feel comfortable buying a new one. Besides, I feel like this will last longer (select comfort).

Roy - The best way to select any mattress from any manufacturer is to lay on quite a few of them. And, in the case of Tempur-Pedic, lay on each one for at least 5 minutes, because they change as they warm up from your body tempurature. (That's basically what the "tempur" in their name stands for.)

You should also buy from a retailer that has a comfort guarantee, hopefully money-back, but at the very least no-cost/low-cost exchange. Sleeping on a bed for a few weeks is a lot different than laying awake for 20 minutes in the store.

Select Sleep Queen 10,000 Organic Latex Mattress has arrived! - Wineaux

Hello Everyone!

First off, thank you to all of you for making this entire bed-shopping experience soooo much easier. I have camped here for several days, pouring over past posts - quite illuminating! I had started out leaning towards Tempur-pedic, then Comfortaire, but thanks largely to this forum (and a boatload of researching) I went with latex. If it matters to anyone, the deciding factors where outgassing, longevity/durability, dust mite allergies and heat while sleeping. Learning about fire-retardant chemicals knocked the convention S-brand products, memory foam and air beds out of the running.

Today I ordered the Select Sleep Queen 10,000 Latex Mattress from SleepEZ, the 100% Natural Talalay model.  My side is M/F/XF, hubby's is S/M/F (he's tall and thin, I'm tall and not-so-thin, sigh...)  My experience so far has been just as exemplary as what I've read here - Shawn at SleepEZ is a...
