Re: hastens v latex v sleepys - sleepetc

Hi All,

I'm glad that I found this blog as I may be able to shed some light on the subject.  Carpe Diem Beds of Sweden www.carpediembeds.com  and Hastens Beds www.hastens.com  are two separate companies that produce beds with a lot of similarities.

Many of the components used by both companies are actually built by the same vendors.  The pocket coil support system for example is made by Star Spring for both Hastens and Carpe Diem.  The hard wood base, cotton and wool are more examples of the similarities.

The biggest difference between the two brands is Carpe Diems choice to use a layer of Natural Latex Rubber (not foam) where Hastens uses a layer of horse hair. Both materials are natural, breathable and durable, but while the horse hair settles from day one causing the Hastens to slowly...

I second the recommendation to stay away from any and all Simmons products.  They do not offer any comfort guarantee and are impossible to deal with.  In my opinion they have inferior products despite how the mattress may feel initially in the product showroom.  The only reason they are being sold is because they have some slick, snake oil salesmen doing their dirty work!  OK, so i have a strong opinion but dont say you were not warned!!!!smiley  Also did i mention that they are very overpriced.   One piece of advice that i can offer after learning the hard way is to purchase something that is returnable in case it does not work out for you.  Sleep trials are not that much helpful either because if your reselected mattress does not work out you are out of luck.  Costco...

My experience with the Classic is limited to trying to convince people to buying a DeluxeBed over it because I don't carry the Classic LOL.  So I am definitely biased.  The DeluxeBed has a little bit more of the Tempur Material so we expect it will be more durable and supportive...it might be a little firmer as well in comparison.

Although the Classic is a great mattress as well...I think if you don't find the DeluxeBed to be more comfortable than the Classic could be a better personal option for you.

also, i have yet to get a clear answer about returns at overstock.

does anyone know if one orders a topper, opens it, lays it out and lies down on it to see if it is comfortable, then if it is not, packages it up and sends it back, do they give a full refund? or do they only refund unopened toppers?

thanks

Ditto. I'm wondering the same thing. I am considering  getting a couple of MF or Latex topper for our new split king TP, just to add a little something something in the way of softness over the firm mattresses. But, I was concerned about being able to return it. Unfortunately, they seem to have the biggest selection and lowest prices for Twin XL toppers....

I am curious, what is the concern with the Cloud Supreme?  I am actually about the same weight and height as the poster and am torn between Rhapsody and Supreme. Salesman sales Cloud is better and out sales other TP's by 7 out of every 10 he sales.  He is offering a 100 day exchange or refund which is pretty good I think.

My wife and I checked out most of the TP line at Mattress World about six weeks ago and she LOVED the Cloud Supreme. I thought it was very comfortable, too... noticably softer than most if not all of their other offerings. So I read up on it (even looked into building my own "DIY Cloud Supreme" to save some $$$). What I discovered is that there are two layers of memory...

Matress surgery - Sealy Posturepedic Gray Haven Cushion Firm, need help - Matress
May 31, 2010 5:10 PM
Hello All,

About 27 months ago, I bought a Sealy Posturepedic Gray Haven Cushion Firm (twin XL set with box spring) from Art Van. I slept okay for a year or so, but since, I've been waking up after about 5-6 hours from low and middle back pain, and my arms some times fall asleep. Matress does not show visible impressions, but my hips drop when I lay on this matress, and it's killing me.

I purchased a 1½" thick Dunlop latex topper from Overstock, and placed it on top of this matress. Overall, I liked the feel, springy and supportive. I kept the topper for about a month, and returned it - still having back trouble. I then tried a 1" thick Latex International 24 ILD Talatech topper from Sleep Like a Bear (great service). I bottomed this out, so I returned this as well.

At over 200 lbs do not waste any of your time trying out a Cloud Series Mattress.  Start with something like a DeluxeBed....then maybe try a few of the higher priced HD models to see if they are more comfortable for you.

It is very critical to take your time laying down on these mattresses as Garypen has already suggested.  Lay on them in your own natural sleep position's.  Sometimes the subtle differences between one model and another may not be immediately apparent to you.  So it is okay to go back and forth a few times between the models you liked.  If you do happen to enjoy any of the Tempur Pillows use the same one you like on each mattress you lie down on....if you don't like any of the pillows ask for...

Tempurpedic Rhapsody Vs. Simmons NXG? - jaybird2010

I am new to this forum but have found it very helpful as I researched my new bed purchase; now I am looking for some advice.

I'm a firm sleeper and like the feel of memory foam.  After trying out several beds and researching, I narrowed it to the Simmons Nethanial Firm "Advantage Collection" (Slumberland's branding of what I think from researching is the NXG 100F) for $1300 and the Tempurpedic Rhapsody which was $3150 (with foundation, queen comfort pillow, bed/pillow protectors, and frame).  Since this is a long term purchase, I did not mind the significant investment to get the right mattress.  However, now I'm in a quandry.  First it slept a little hot so I changed the sheets, which solved that problem.  Now it feels "solid" and I wake up 4-5 times a night to shift.  However, no pain and it is comfortable.

I went back to Slumberland to...

My Experience Buying A Latex Mattress

After hours of Internet research, reading retail and manufacturer sites, over a hundred forum posts on the topic from consumers, and talking to three of the leading (non-chain) latex mattress retailers, I bought a latex mattress yesterday, put it together and had my first night’s sleep on it. A sports injury is keeping me in this weekend so I thought I’d save you many hours of research by detailing my search.

Why should you consider my advice? (1) I am a marketing professional from an industry unrelated to mattresses (and therefore able to recognize and cut through much of the marketing hype) (2) I am an obsessive researcher (3) I have a talent for sorting facts and getting to the bottom line, and (4) I’ve owned futons, spring mattresses, a water bed, and an airbed (and can...
