Intelli-Bed - haysdb

Intelli-Bed came first. EdiZone partners (name) and Tony Pearce started Intelli-Bed in 199x (citation needed). They are a B&M company (no Internet sales) with stores, mostly company owned I believe, clustered around Utah (Arizona, Idaho, Colorado). They have extended their reach recently to Missouri (two stores in St. Louis) and Texas.
They offer 4 mattresses. Each uses the same Intelli-Gel as their top layer.
First is an entry level model with the Intelli-Gel bonded to a Polyurethane core. This is a thinnish and very firm feeling mattress, almost more like a really thick futon in feel. They don't actively promote this mattress, and in fact put in on the other side of the showroom from their three "orthodpedic" mattresses, but it's a good entry-level mattress if you like the feel of Intelli-Gel and like a firm mattress.
The next two models, starting at ~$3K for the mattress...

Is this the mattress?

They offer no clue about the construction, other than it's made with "Viscoelastic." I don't know why they capitalize viscoelastic, it's not a brand name but rather a description of a physical property of the foam - the foam is viscoelastic. Big deal, at least 12 companies manufacture visco foam in the U.S. alone. Lord knows how many Chinese companies are making it.
The price is certainly nice, but ask about the support foam, the density in particular. If it's 1.6 lb polyurethane, it won't last vary long. Some companies call this "high density" but it's not. PU foam has to be 2 lb density or higher before it can legitimately be called "high density." There are mattresses selling for even less that use better foam than that. Even Bedinabox uses better quality support foam.
Don't fall for the line "It's just as good...

I know for conventional beds I do not like luxury firm but do like cushion firm as long as it is still very firm. Due to my allergy, I no longer sleep on anything but a latex bed.
Now I will talk about toppers as I see others are doing on this thread.
When the FloBed 2" Talalay Latex Topper was too soft for me, Dave sent me a 1.5" Medium Firm Dunlap Latex Processed topper that I did not like and sent back both toppers. The Talalay Latex was silky smooth and felt so good to touch while the Dunlap Latex was less consistent in the feel all over the topper and the coloring and feel was definitely not as nice to me as the Talalay Latex.
Dave then sent me a 1.5" soft Talalay Latex Topper that was too big for my Queen Bed but this was not his fault since it was labeled Queen and...

Not Hays, but... You poor thing. You're trying everything to get some relief -- in fact, you could probably open a store with all the things you've acquired in your search. Your mattress guy could probably get that fiber mat for you, but I think perhaps before you shell out for yet another item that may or may not provide the comfort you are looking for, you should see an orthopedic doctor. He or she can get to the bottom of your back pain, get you some treatment for it and point you in the right direction with your bedding issues. Otherwise it seems you are just grasping at straws and still struggling with pain no matter what you do. ...

thanks!!
That is the correct link for the mattress I saw. It has no specs, no info at all.
I am 6' and I weight about 180lbs. My partner likes the HD on the rhapsody a lot but is it worth the extra 700 bucks on top of the regular 9" or 10" TP has to offer? ...

Has anyone tried the Ortho tempered memory foam mattress? I was at Ortho mattress today and the store is selling 9" foams for $999 and 12" for $1499, compare to Tempur pedic's rhapsody 12" at $2699. I tried looking for the review but there just isn't much info I can find on the web. I just can't tell the difference by lying on it for 5 mins with the saleperson breathing down my neck. Quite frustrated buying a mattress...

Hi Cloud9,
Last night was actually pretty good! I iced my back and then applied heat. I also broke down and took two of the Percocet I was given after surgery. I don't like to take narcotics, if I can help it. Also, earlier in the evening, I moved a couple toppers around on my mattress and that seemed to make a difference, as well. A wee bit softer for side-sleeping. And, yet not so conforming that I sunk in. The memory foam over latex is a nice mix. And, the Cuddle Bed holding it all together. This morning was the first time I actually lay there and didn't want to get up. Usually, by then I'm tossing and turning so much, I just go ahead and get up. Tonight I'm not going to take the Percocet. I'll take some Ibuprofen, though. I don't like to take anything like Tylenol...
