Sandman, this is after only one night and my experience with any memory foam is that after a few nights it sometimes requires removal for my comfort.

But anyway I took off the blue fake Venus foam last night and added it (1") to my wife's bed because she suddenly out of the blue complained of her mattress being too firm. So I replaced my 1" Venus with 2" of Sensus last night. Lo and behold I slept good and woke up without back pain. IF ONLY THIS WOULD LAST! (But I have to be pessimistic based on past experience.) Anyway, thanks for the tip. If it does fail on me, then hmmmm? Maybe I could try just one inch of Sensus... or go back to my idea of buying one inch of 19ILD Talatech or natural Talalay.

I think I answered this already but yeah, they go by the same ILD scale but Dunlop FEELS a lot firmer. For me Dunlop is intolerable, at least at 32ILD it is.

There was a whole thread on SleepEZ vs. Flobeds just a few weeks ago with that title. Look for it.

As for the same manufacturer I am not sure. I am pretty sure they do both sell some Latex International. Pretty sure flobeds no longer sells Dunlop processed latex but don't quote me on that. SleepEZ does sell Dunlop made by Latex Green. But to be sure, always call or write and ask them. I think Flobeds has options for Natural or Talatech Talalay, but again, check to see. I'm sure it's on their web site. If not they are very welcoming to inquiries by phone. SleepEZ could be a little hard to reach...

Thanks for all the suggestions. Sorry I have not been here for a day or two to respond.

cynical, we do have an IKEA but it's about 45 min. away. However I will try to get over there some day in the near future.

pianoman and budgy, yes I think trying the mattress without the box is going to be my first step. I have always felt that this couldn't be the problem, but I guess it could be, after all, couldn't it? So I'll try that.

DiankeK - An Ikea box springs with Bonnell coils? Did you write that correctly? That sounds very interesting and might be something I'd like to try. Can you tell me the name of it? Cost? etc.

As to pocket coils: Budgy - are there any pocket coils "out there" that would be any good for...

Pianoman's latex-foam hybrid mattress setup w/PICS! - pianoman
Jun 4, 2010 3:15 AM
My order of PU foam for my DIY Eastern King latex-foam hybrid mattress from foamdistributing.com arrived yesterday. It included six 82" x 76" x 1" Lux foam skins, plus a 15 lb. bag of shredded memory foam and a 72" x 5" poly round bolster. (I'm going to use the shredded memory foam to try and make my own king size pillows, and I plan to cut the poly round bolster into five 14" lengths to be used for back/lumbar support when sitting).

Everything arrived safely and well-boxed. Here are some pics of the order...

The order shipped in four boxes. I opened one box, then remembered to start taking pics...

Contents in boxes... mostly

Contents unboxed...

5. Case/cover... I think the 8" FBM terry cover will be too tight, especially if we add anything down the road.  I see a variety of sizes at sleeplikeabear (out of stock?) and sleepEZ, any other places to look?  I think we want to try bare terry first, and if it is too hot against the latex I'll look at just adding a loose wool layer between talatech and cover.  For now, terry only?

There's also this cover on eBay...

PU Foam — This is the Matress surgery - Sealy Posturepedic Gray Haven Cushion Firm, need help - Matress
May 31, 2010 5:10 PM

Hello All,

About 27 months ago, I bought a Sealy Posturepedic Gray Haven Cushion Firm (twin XL set with box spring) from Art Van. I slept okay for a year or so, but since, I've been waking up after about 5-6 hours from low and middle back pain, and my arms some times fall asleep. Matress does not show visible impressions, but my hips drop when I lay on this matress, and it's killing me.

I purchased a 1½" thick Dunlop latex topper from Overstock, and placed it on top of this matress. Overall, I liked the feel, springy and supportive. I kept the topper for about a month, and returned it - still having back trouble. I then tried a 1" thick Latex International 24 ILD Talatech topper from Sleep Like a Bear (great service). I bottomed this out, so I returned this as well.
