I wouldn't buy anything with pocketed coils (Marshall). I have LuraFlex coils which also are made to act more independently and are much more stable than the pocketed. Here is the Leggett & Platt website. You can check out their coils there. They also have the Marshall, but I feel there are others better out there, including my LuraFlex. Good luck!

I saw this from a site who sells Simmons. These people have a Q&A feature. Here is the website: http://www.sdmattress.com/

and the Westin question below:

Q: I am interested in purchasing something similar to the Westin bed. What Simmons beds are comparable?
- Amy, Madison, WI 10/11/07

A: Hi Amy, The Heavenly Bed! So popular because it is built to feel comfortable and supportive to any sleeping position(side/back/stomach). AND a lot of people get to try it for a whole night before they buy it. Sleeping on a mattress for a whole night is a much better way to shop! For the exact equivalent to the Simmons Beautyrest Westin Heavenly Bed, check out our Classic Dakar Pillowtop at http://sdmattress.com/store/index.php?prodid=642. The Dakar PT has the same exact foam layers and coil construction for the same Heavenly Bed feel. The Dakar PT is available for $849 Queen set, $1,199 King...
Help! Third mattress in 6 months. . . - DaneGuy
Jun 14, 2008 9:24 PM
Hi all:

This is my first post.  My wife and I are in mattress h3ll right now.  We purchased a Sealy Spring Free Beachside a few months ago.  We found it a little too soft.  So, we decided we wanted firm and picked up a Simmons SUPERPAINFULLYFIRM model.  :-) It's way too hard and the springs are already making noises.  We think we want latex again but aren't sure why. . . .  We like a Nature's Rest latex bed but all the reviews I see are terrible.  I don't want to make a mistake a third time.  Would a topper perhaps be a better (and cheaper) option?   The more I look at mattresses the more I think we just won't find the perfect mattress.

Any advice is greatly appreciated! ...
Help - latex mattress or latex topper? - mrmoskowitz1

Hi everyone,

I have a Westin Heavenly Bed which I understand is a Simmons Beautyrest.

I'm a side sleeper and I find this bed to be a bit on the firm side.  It's not a firm mattress but not a soft mattress either.

So I was looking to buy an IKEA Engenes (latex mattress) or perhaps I should get a latex topper.

Does any one have any suggestions?

Thank you!!...

hi jankdc,

thanks for your reply - that's disappointing to hear. do you know offhand what size/# of coils are in your Beautyrest? and are the dips due to shot springs not covered under warranty? i guess if they are not more than 2", which seems awfully extreme...

cheers,
marc

I am currently replacing my Beautyrest. We loved the bed - for the first 4 years. It is 7 years old and needs to go. We got one with minimal foam and even that has dips. the springs are also shot.   If you really want the pocketed coil springs, look at some of the other manufacturers also.

so (as per my other thread) it looks like my tempurpedic is not going to work for my back. :( so, i'm gonna try the whole firm coil spring + foam topper to taste approach. my wife actually likes sleeping on a carpeted floor with minimal padding, and i don't mind it if i added a few layers of blankets or a foam pad on top, so maybe we can try to emulate that in a bed...

i was trying to find a decent coil spring that had minimal foam. i like the simmons pocketed coils because they do seem to provide better isolation, which is one of my favorite things about the tempurpedic. any opinions on this one?

http://www.us-mattress.com/simmons-beautyrest-dakar-firm.html

the quilt is pretty simple, the coil gauge is thicker than their higher-end 980-count models (13.25 gauge vs. 15.5) but it's still 800 coil, and it just has a couple think payers...
Comfor-Pedic foam durability? - nabby

hi all,

my wife and i have been arduously searching for a new bed, so i've been poring over this forum for the last few days and have founds loads of great info - thanks to all for their contributions.

initially we were interested in the Simmons Black stuff - the Florence with the 2" memory foam topper - but it seemed awfully overpriced, and reading accounts of poor Simmons quality and the failings of pillowtop beds has pretty much ruled that out. there is a similar bed in the World Class line for much less (the Depere or Belmont depending on where you shop) but we are wary of pillow tops now.

we thought we liked firm beds (my wife often likes to sleep on the floor to mix things up), but we're realizing we need a little more compliance and support as we get older. so a foam top with...

Queen mattress, I don't remember what the coils are, we were pretty uninformed when it came to buying a bed then. The issue was not just the foam but also the coils. Before I moved to our extra bed (futon), I found myself sleeping on either the edge or center of the bed for comfort. I don't know if it would be covered by warranty.  We bought the bed in a different state and I don't know if we could find the receipt.  It was our first new bed, I hope we will do better with our next one....
