The only two mattresses I have ever had have BOTH been Sealy Posturepedics and BOTH sagged horribly in the middle after 6 months.  I don't want the same experience for me and my new wife.  And even though the Beautyrest was so comfortable, I dont want something with bad reviews from other people.

I always like to make the best informed decision possible, I just feel lost in trying to make the best choice.  I even tried to find a flip-style model, as I read on here that may be the best bet, but...

I like mine. I have had it about a year, and I started with some toppers for it, which were very comfortable. (I got the CuddleBed from Costco and the 1" latex topper from Brylane Home.) The toppers were too soft for my bad back, so now I just sleep on the mattress. Good luck!...

Varaonaid,

I know people must think I work for IKEA, actually I am self-employed, but I did buy a latex Tolg topper from them a month ago and it was heavenly for three nights. I slept right through the night not waking, not turning as much ... I am a back and side sleeper and found it quite comfortable to sleep on after placing it on a 10 year old Simmons Beauty Rest which had been canoeing a little. Still had the canoeing effect but it was COMFORTABLE. It was soft ... and it made the Hasselback bed at IKEA ... which is individual pocket coil and quite firm ... bearable.

Then my wife and I tried the Tolg with the Erfjord and she started to giggle and said "Oh, yeah ..." so that was it. Firm but has give and craddles the body on the side, and...

You are a lot like me.  I sleep on my back and sides, weight not a lot.  My biggest problem with beds is finding the support I need for my hips(where my weight is concentrated), but also having the softness to not cut off my circulation in my hips and shoulders.
I had a latex mattress which lasted about two years before foam stopped working.  I bought a latex topper for our newer bed but I hated the feeling...latex is boing-y(hubby liked it, tho).  Every time I turned over, I bounced, LOL!
I would research ad nauseum about springs in the bed(heard somewhere, maybe on this list, that Simmons springs are not great), as well as what they layer above them.  I have been through so many mattresses in the past couple of years(seems that foam quality took a nosedive after Katrina), it seems that any polyurethane foam just won't last...

Thank you everyone, for your input.
I decided Saturday to go to Sleep Country and try to find a *Comfortable* mattress as I had a couple of hours to spare and I knew that a latex bed was financially out of the question. I think I tried every mattress in the store, but decided on the Simmons Blackbeauty Rest called *Edaline* in the queen. It felt good and I laid on it in different positions for quite awhile, and even bounced my bottom up & down to see if I could feel what felt like a metal bar on the other beds including my current bed which will be gone tomorrow, and I didn't feel anything but comfort & not too sottness but just right. This is NOT a pillow top and is much closer to the ground which is what I wanted as the bed I have now is...
new to forum - HELP! back probs, 1st mattress, $2000 and under, tired of sagging - bayoufrogg

Hello to all,

I read as much as I could from old posts, but a lot of the posts I saw didnt help narrow anything down for me.  I'll start by saying that I am looking for a medium-firm mattress in KING size.  Not only do I like the feel of medium-firm and some plush-firms, I hear they are better for us back sufferers.  I want to spend 2,000 or under TOTAL.

I went today and slept on a TON of beds and found the most comfortable for me was the "SIMMONS BEAUTYREST World-Class Plush-Firm.......".  It wasnt a pillowtop and had only a little padding on top the coils.   I come to this site though, hoping to find good reviews, and am really disappointed.  All reviews found here on the Beautyrest are negative.

I have read that their springs are not tempered! The weakest part is the pillow tops. Try a latex kit bed some where!...

I replaced my Simmons, with a Latex kit bed from FloBeds! I been to most latex Mattress Co. West of the Rockies. Several in Southern Cal., Sleep Ez in Good Year Az. Went to FloBeds because of their return pollicy. Sleep Ez about $400 to restock, I think!?  I could not believe the third night. I woke up in the AM in the same position I fell asleep in! No more lower back pain. Latex pillow also! No more neck pain!
They claim 97%  of their sales are internet. The strange thing is it is a warm sleep! Not hot! Like the Sensor foam! There's no support in the sensor foam anyway! Waited way to long about 8 years looking! As one store had a small block of sensor foam,  under a bed post! Several years worth of pressure, it never sprung back! Same thing was done with a latex block,...
