Not really . . only YOU can determine which configuration of mattress components satisfies your personal comfort preferences.

For others curious . . NxG Series link.

i couldn't stand full latex beds either. since you mentioned hastens see my other post here. i personally didn't like all the animal products in the hastens. plus i found what i got to be a way better value. you may hate what i got but you can check it out if a showroom by you has it.  i tried the $50,000 hastens bed and simply could not see why it costs that much. maybe it lasts longer i don't know. it's comfort level(to me) was below what i got.

simmons has two new(more expensive) models out since i got mine. i was very unimpressed with those. for once i am happy with my mattress purchase. i never have been able to say that before even after just 2 months.

ymmv of course....

I looked at the information for both...they don't look very different from each other except the Black doesn't tell you what is in the pillowtop.  I personally HATE pocketed coils...am giving our relatively new mattress with pocketed coils to our daughter...kills my low back.  I've cut it open and put every type of foam in it...still hurts me.  Top pocketed coils with soft memory foam and you have nothing but soft and no support whatsoever.  Must work for some people but not for me.
Both the pocketed coils and memory foam allow the body to push down, they conform, but there is no opposing push back up from either so you just sink.  These are not supportive.  I would think that women in particular would have issues with this combo.

Thanks for the responses:

Update on the situation:  JCPenneys has reluctantly agreed (after me talking to 4 different people) to credit the Simmons New Hope Bed back for other furniture from their store that will total the bed amount minus the 10% restocking fee and a $50 delivery charge.  The bed originally totalled nearly $2000; so we will have to spend approx $1750 at JCP's furniture store and they will deliver it and take the bed and box springs at that time.  This is not ideal but is better than the alternative of getting another bed that probably would not work out for us.  We wanted to get a new dining room table and chairs anyway so this is a good opportunity to do that plus a few other items.  Our current innerspring bed is approx 17yrs old - we bought a foam topper at Costco about 5 or 6 yrs ago...

Help wanted on Latex mattress purchase - BillB

We decided to get a new mattress a month or so ago, and like most people got thoroughly confused by all of the mattress hype. We got onto the latex idea, and instead of getting a pure latex mattress, ended up buying a JCPenney's Simmons new hope danny seo pillowtop mattress. At first we thought wow, this is great, but after a few weeks I started to have a lower back ache (where I never had one in the past). So I knew it was the bed.  Its too soft for me. I am a stomach sleeper (150lbs) and my wife (140lbs) is a side sleeper who actually seems to like this bed.  I can tell you that this bed is pure hype and only has two inches of Talalay latex way down under about fourteen layers of something else. In other words what is really doing the work is the top...

Hi all,

I’ll admit it. I’m spoiled.

After a year on my new bed-—combination of a tallalay Vera Wang “Serene Peace,”, a Natura tallalay topper, and a micro denier topper-—sleeping on anything else is a let down; the only other thing I find comfortable is the Heavenly Bed (good thing, since I’m in Westins on work trips 12+ times a year). Like I said, spolied.

The challenge now is the bed in the guest room at my parents’ house, where I’ve been trying to spend more time these days. Even after 25 years, the mattress in there feels  like a slab of concrete; if I sleep at all, it’s in agony, not to mention how my back feels in the morning.

Thankfully, I’ve convinced them it’s time to replace the beast. Thank God.

Told them I’d do the dirty work, but I live in Minneapolis...they live in Nebraska...so this is all happening...

Hello-

I am debating between the Simmons BeutyRest Black (Rosalyn) and their NXG series,  but can't seem to find any reviews on the NXG.  Can anyone help?

Thanks!...

Well, hopefully I did okay, because I just bought a mattress...

Kingdom Mattress (regional company)
Bonnell spring system, 12 gauge, larger coil (dont know exactly how many actually but felt well supported and no "spring" feel)
1 inch memory foam padding on top of springs,   No pillowtop etc.  Nice flattop mattress.
I could definitely feel hubby turning on the bed, but thats not a huge complaint for either of us.

I laid on this and was in heaven.  I could frankly sleep on it with no additional padding.  It was the firmest mattress they had.  It was a closeout 2008 model and very well priced.  Done deal.  Would still love opinions on toppers though...

I laid on a Serta Perfect Day latex, Natures Rest Latex, and Vera Wang and none of them did a thing for me.  In fact, the Perfect Day actually made my back ache.  The Tempurpedic wasnt bad until...

Build-a-bed... - utcarsons

After reading at length here about the various options, I think we have decided to "build-a-bed"  If only it were that easy <sigh>.  Currently on a 7 yo Bassett pillowtop (Sealy?) that is sagging and oddly leaning to the right?!  In any case, I believe it to be a major contributor to my low back pain/sciatica.  Ive had problems on and off since an injury about 9 years ago.  I wake up basically crippled and unable to walk.  After several hours of "moving" I feel just fine...  Starts over next morning.  The only time I actually have the pain at this point is when I am lying in the bed.  Once Im up, its just a matter of getting myself to walk "straight" again.  Enough of that...

Stats:  me:  5'6', 140 lbs, female, side sleeper, low back pain.   Spouse:  6'0', thin (170?), side back and stomach sleeper.  Both of us seem...

Thanks so much for your advice! I've been reading more about what Bill is doing with building his own bed and I'm thinking of doing something similar. My husband and I really like innersprings though. I am thinking of buying a Serta Perfect Sleeper without a pillow top and instead buying egg crate or 2" of PU foam to put on top of it from foambymail. We really like the coil system of the Perfect Sleeper for the support it provides.  Before we were married by husband bought a 3" memory foam topper from Overstock and put it on top of an old Simmons mattress. When we were married that whole system had to go. I hated the memory foam topper because when we laid next to each other we formed a canoe in the middle of the bed. Maybe I would like the memory foam but the 3" was just too...
