Re: Saatva Mattress - Does it Hold Up over Time? - MrSandman
Jan 13, 2016 4:45 AM
UPDATE REVIEW - This is MrSandman - back in May of 2013, I posted, asking if anyone had any information or opinions about how the Saatva mattress held up over time. I did not receive many replies right away, and I did not check back much after that.

Well, it has been about 2 and half years now since we purchased the mattress, and I am of the personal "opinion" (based on my personal experience) that the Saatva mattress does NOT hold up well, even over a relatively short period of time. Others may have different experiences.

We bought the Saatva - "Extra Firm" Luxury King mattress with the Saatva foundation, back in the Spring of 2013. All was well the first couple of years, but in the last few months, despite taking good care of the mattress and rotating it on...

Thank you Sandman... both models are Tight tops...Kingsdown Rockwell and Simmons Beautyrest Essence...  I tried them out again, but undecided... on the Simmons I feel more pushed up in the hip area... even though it may be in my head.. and on the Kingsdown I feel more padding, less shoulder discomfort... Thats the thing with the Essence, I can add a topper to it... the Kingsdown should be fine without one.... but I don't know if it will hold up as it was recently placed on the floor. but the kingsdown definitely feels more comfy that I wouldn't have to use a topper...

Beautyrest or alternatives, spinal fusion disc issues - npfd
Feb 21, 2014 8:34 PM
Hi there,

I had a spinal fusion, top to bottom done in my early teens, now late 20s. I've been having disc degeneration issues in the lumbar area, and suggested to get a firm mattress.
I've been going to mattress stores for about a month now. First with the salesperson we settled on a firm memoryfoam, Sealy Soleil. After consulting a few mattress sites, some say that memory foam is not ideal for the problems i'm having. I realize this after that memory foam is hard for me to move and get up on.... Since then I've changed my order twice, haven't taken delivery yet.

I believe I've narrowed it to two models, budget allowing too....

Both double:

Npfd.  Did you decide?  Sandman is absolutely correct.  You must trust and verify.  He also mentioned avoiding pillowtops because you cannot make them more firm.

All,

I had a Kingsdown Sleep to Live Series 600 blue mattress. Well it started to sag. This is the second time that I'm executing a warranty replacement. Being that the mattress isn't produced anymore I got the lovely "store credit" for the same price I paid for my original mattress. Well that credit was $1300. Now to keep getting my lifetime warranty I had to stay within the brand so that the box and mattress match. Well I just got the Kingsdown Stateman. All I can say is hard as a rock! Last night was my second night and my side is killing me. I thought I was a stomach sleeper but turns out that I alternate between side and stomach. So herein lies my question. Do exchange it for a plush mattress or buy a topper? I...
Searching for a mattress in Canada - MattressOptimist

Hello,
Firstly, thank you everyone for all the material that is available here. I have been testing and researching beds for three months now and had some concerns that I couldn't get satisfactory answers for. Coming on this site confirmed some of the issues I had.

I'm looking for a mattress set in Ottawa, Canada and I'd like to buy from a retailer. (I can't purchase online without having an opportunity to try it first.)

I am now looking at a couple of options and would like to get your opinion about each of them and what may be the best. I don't do well with beds that sink at the hips - it causes me back pain. I prefer to be on a level surface and don't wish to sink or have a cradling effect that memory foam offers. So my preference is for innersprings.

Here are the options...
Question About King Size Mattress - Grumpy342
May 14, 2016 5:31 PM
We recently purchased a Saatva Queen Mattress for our spare room. We have a King Serta Mattress in our Master Bedroom. It is only 1 year old and it has developed a ridge in the center. Prior to this we had a Kingsdown Mattress that lasted 22 Years before giving up the ghost. It never developed a ridge. As a test we have been sleeping on the Queen from Saatva for the last week and are extremely satisfied. My question is if we purchase a Saatva King Mattress how will it wear with respect to the ridge in the center? Will it be more like the Kingsdown or the Serta? We are a bit scared to make the move to changing our King size Mattress. Any experiences anyone has had with this would be a great help....

I needed a new mattress about 6 years ago to replace a 20-year old one. I found mattress shopping had become very confusing. I tried a soft one, and a very expensive Stearns&Foster pillowtop. Big mistake. NEVER get a pillowtop. No matter how expensive the mattress, the foam on top is cheap and will compress and form indentations within weeks. I too have back problems that send me to a physio every so often and was desperate for advice, which I got on this forum

That excellent advice was to buy a firm, regular mattress and then customize it and soften it with toppers - fiberfill, latex, or memory foam. I got a Kingsdown Duet mattress (I don't think the brand matters all that much, just don't get the cheapest) for about 800$ and it's firm, so firm I cannot sleep on it without toppers. I experimented using toppers and...
I need some serious help please - Zelle

Replaced old mattress, tried TWO Kingsdown between early June and early August, caused shoulder pain, back pain, purchased a Tempur-pedic Pro Adapt Soft. I don't know if this mattress is hurting me or if I've just been on too many new mattresses in too short a time.

I'm over 65 in good shape, no arthritis, no physical limitations, very petite female 118 pounds. Last night was 28 nights on this mattress. At first, shoulder pain (rhomboid muscles, shoulder sockets felt out of place), muscle pain went away, shoulder sockets still a little weird (but the Kingsdowns both did this to me also). I've been waking with mid back muscle pain, I can't sleep more than four hours without waking up. It's not horrible pain but I don't want to take pain meds. I haven't slept through the night in months and it's starting to affect...
