Hi again everyone, well I wrote to South Bay International with a few questions and they responded very quickly.  Below I have pasted the reply to my question.  I am thrilled to hear that it is a non-chemical solution to meet the fire-proofing requirements.

Hello:

Thank you for your interest in our product.  We use a Fire Retardant muslin fabric on all of our mattresses to meet the 1633 Flammability requirements.  This is a non-chemical solution for fire retardant.

The FR Muslin cover is sewed around the mattress and then we put the zip on silk/micro sued cover on top of that.  Our mattress cover is removable and washable, where as the muslin must be stitched on to specifications to meet the 1633 requirements.  All Costco typically has us...

Thanks everyone for your postings.  Last month I ordered the Queen size latex mattress with foundation and it was delivered yesterday.  (Took less than 3 weeks.)  Delivery was great, but I have some concerns with the bed itself and was hoping to get some opinions.

1)  The tag on the mattress states that it is 126 pounds.  The costco site says that the queen mattress is 143 pounds.  Is anyone's mattress tag weight much less than what is stated at Costco?  Is a 17 pound difference significant when you are dealing with latex?  (My mattress manu date is May 2010.)

2)  My mattress height is 9" on side side, and almost 9 1/2" on the other.   Is anyone's mattress less than 10"?  (Or do manufacturers normally 'round up' to 10"?)

bump.  has anyone tried the NEW latex mattress from Costco?  Consisting of latex on top of foam?

i took a shot in the dark and ordered it online did so much research and laying on so many mattress i'm just frustrated with the process i'd figure what the hell if i don't like costco has the best return policy.   I just can't afford to spend more than 1500 on a king mattress but i emailed the sleep science here is what they said regardin  the specs.  I did like PLB nature but $2200 for a king is a ripp off IMO considering the times we are in i bet these things cost nearly nothing to make all about supply and demand since "latex" beds are now the IT mattress.  I bet latex matress 5 years...

I visited that store in Palo Alto.  The salesman didn't get up to help me and when I asked if they had all latex mattresses, he muttered about those mattresses there they have prices.  I found no description of what the mattresses were other than "firm", some with prices.  Even after I started trying them out and poking at the covered, he didn't bother to help me.  I walked out.  There are other stores in that area that sell latex mattresses (these are the ones I visisted and there are probably more in SF but I hate trying to park in SF and public transpo is too slow and I didn't look closely in East Bay as I live in South Bay). Reclaim Home in Menlo Park has Savvy Rest and you can try all the combinations.  Earthsake in Berkeley has latex mattresses (all organic) prices weren't too bad and...

I went to test drive some latex today in the South SF Bay area today.

A while ago I went into one of those box mattress stores and tried out a Tempurpedic.  It was like sleeping in sand.  I liked the feeling!  But it's environmentally evil, hot and since you sink into the mattress tossing and turning (which I do a lot of) doesn't work.  So I've been leaning toward latex which is about the same price.

I went to Reclaim Home who has on display Savvy Rest 10" mattresses in Dunlop and Talalay.  I liked what I saw and sent about 30 minutes trying out different combos.  I tried the default configs of F/F/M and M/M/S in Dunlop and Talalay.  I couldn't tell much difference between the Dunlop and Talalay in the F/F/M.  I sleep half way between side and stomach and sometimes sleep on stomach...

With all respect to Budgy, I don't know if he works hands on with latex., but to the OP, I would think also talking to several mfrs. (SleepEZ, Flobeds, etc...) that have worked hands on with the different latexes over the years would be good.

Here in SF Bay Area, Natural Mattress Stores has 3 stores with organic / latex beds.  Told me they use Dunlop cores / talalay tops in their 'Awareness' line.

that video is interesting.

I would think it is most important to get good quality latex from the best suppliers which apparently are LI, Latexco, Latex Green, etc...

What are the main co's that use the good quality latex?     I originally thinking that total dunlop was the way to...

Sleep Science Celeste / Vega? Comforpedic? (Memory Foam & Latex) - Dallasgirl
Aug 20, 2011 6:05 AM
Hi again everyone!

I'm wondering if anyone knows if you can still get this mattress from Costco? Or where you might be able to get something like this with a decent return/exchange policy? It's the Sleep Science mattress with both memory foam and latex called either the Celeste or the Vega I believe?

I found it on this site: http://www.homeclick.com/sleep-science-cst-14ck-14-cal-king-memory-foam-mattress/p-422026.aspx but really dont know anything about this retailer.

About a year or more ago when all my back pain began, I laid on some of the Comforpedic beds (also combo of memory foam plus some latex) and really loved them in the store. But, they are nearly $2,500 for a king and in Dallas the only place I could really find them was Sleep Experts. They do allow a one time one year exchange, but no refund. You'd have to get a replacement from...

I called them today and asked that they email us the specs on their new Hybrid Bliss and the 10" Latex Comfort.

I have spent SO MUCH TIME (LOL!!!) looking for a new mattress it is almost pathetic. I've been all over the gambit from memory foam to latex to build your own and have finally narrowed it down to the two mattresses mentioned above. Probably the main reason is Costco's fabulous return policy.

Concerning the Hybrid Bliss, the woman I spoke with today told me that it just came out into the market...
