Serta icomfort Genius - Quite Firm

We purchased two Twin XL Genius mattresses with matching bases. One base is the adjustable base. After the first night and two weeks later, I still have back, neck, hip and arm aches. The mattress has softened up a little, but not enough for either my husband or I. We are both side sleepers, but my doctor recommended I use a firm memory foam mattress for back, hip and other issues - thus this is why we tried the icomfort Genius. We are trading both mattresses in for the icomfort Prodigy that is a 6 on Serta's 1-10 comfort scale. Genius ranked a 4.5. If you like a really firm and hard bed, then this mattress might work for you. REGARDING PRICE: Shop around - some sales persons will say that the price is fixed per Serta, but this is NOT true. Serta has a minimum set price for the companies selling that they are not to go below, but no maximum cap. I have found the price to vary over $1000 on the icomfort mattress line, depending upon where you shop. Get several quotes! Hope this review helps someone.

Pros:

No bad odor. Seems good quality. Works good with an adjustable base.

Cons:

Too firm and hard even after the top layer of memory foam has softened up. Way over priced - shop around.Shop around - some sales persons will say that the price is fixed per Serta, but this is NOT true. My husband and I purchased two twin XL of the icomfort Genius model, (one with adjustable base and one regular. Mattresses were hard in the store, but clerk said that they soften up. It's been 7 days hardly sleeping. and in pain pain since the bed has not softened up yet. Both of us have back pain and I also have hip, leg and arm pain as well. I've spoken to the salesperson about exchanging for the icomfort Prodigy that is Medium softness instead of the medium-firm Genius, (per Serta's firmness chart). Only problem is that salesperson does not want to match local pricing for this mattress and wants to over-charge me. I hope that this does not turn out to be a nightmare as I already went though a lot with this local mattress company, (long story). I'm disabled and really need a comfortable bed! Hope that they will work with me.
