Do they make flat mattresses anymore?

I went to sleep county and another store but all of the mattresses had bumps/peaks on them. Why do they make them all like this now? They felt uncomfortable to me. Do they still make plain old flat ones anymore? Anyone know where I might find one? Im buying my own bed for the first time and I dont know much about anything so Im just looking for something simple. I have tried putting a mattress pad on top of my curent mattress but the only cheap ones I could find were made of polyurthane and they made my nose really stuffed up and made me feel really hot at night so I cant really use one of those.
