Anyone flip and sleep on a one-sided mattress?

I just bought an el cheapo Beautyrest, one-sided mattress.  I hate the inability to flip most mattresses these days.  My story is a long one (see some of my other recent posts, I just joined today) but for this thread my question is, has anyone actually flipped and slept on the "non-sleepable" surface of a one-sided mattress?

I had read something on the web whereby someone did just that, turned it over, put a topper on and voila.  So I checked mine and indeed, the bottom side seems to be covered innersprings..so why wouldn't it be useable w/ a topper?  This would also avoid the annoying fabric and waterproofing on the normal side (which is probably contributing to my hotness issues).

P.S. Is there a way to subscribe to these threads to see when someone replies?
