I was told the Cloud Luxe is perhaps a little softer than the Supreme, probably just due to having a slightly thicker layer of lower density memory foam in the surface than the Supreme.  But both beds will soften over  time, this is a simple property of all kinds of polyurethane foam.

thanks budgy , how soft can cloud lux go? is cloud lux the right bed for someone weighing about 210 pounds, height about 6 feet 2, and suffering low back pain? or allura will be a better then cloud lux? Budgy how long will it take for allura to soften up after initial purchase? will a softened up allura feel as soft as a new cloud lux? thanks budgy.

These are really hard questions to quantify, but here is what I believe.  The softening up process begins pretty much immediately but most of it would be done in the first year or so.  For someone of that height/weight I think either mattress *should* be supportive enough.  Although the Allura will keep more of its firmness over time. I do not believe the Allura would ever feel quite as soft as say a brand new Cloud Luxe, but thats difficult to answer.

joeb, have you been able to test out any of the Tempur-Pedics? Your best bet is to always try them out in stores and pay attention to your body as you do so. Try each one on your back, your stomach, and especially your side (as you are a side sleeper). Don't be afraid to tell the salesperson that you'd like to be left alone to try out the mattresses one at a time, and don't be afraid to take as much time as you want or need. It's not unusual for a person who is searching for a mattress to spend up to fifteen or twenty minutes on a mattress that they are seriously considering purchasing. The mattress that you/your muscles are the most relaxed on is the one that you should go with. Your body is your best friend and is the best judge when mattress shopping.

With that being said, the Luxe will always feel softer than the Allura. The Luxe is meant to give you the softest feel that Tempur offers, while the Allura is designed to feel like more of a medium softness.

Only buy memory foam that is CertiPUR-US® or Oeko-Tex® certifed. Why? because when you buy a CertiPUR-US® memory foam mattress you can know that it is for example:

Low emission (low VOCS)
BPA Phthalates-free
Made without ozone depleters
PBDE-free
Mercury, Lead and heavy metal free
Made without formaldehyde
BHT-free
