Clearly, the reviews below are by the same person. If you look at the reviews, ALL of them use the same words at some point or another. In addition, if you review people with whom you KNOW have a sleep number bed, the "average" is not 100 percent HORRIBLE and HOFFIFIC lol.....it's funny. If it was that bad, they would never be in business that long.

I do have a sleep number bed, and it works fantastic. Basically, you get in bed at the highest setting and deflate until you feel neutral - it's not complicated. The 7000 has a lot of pillow top for those who like that feeling - and it's amazingly comfortable. I have had 5k matresses, and far prefer this to anyone of them.

Obviously, the best way to find out for yourself is to go to a store and GET NAMES AND NUMBERS of people who actually have this bed.

Until then - you can read the same reviews over and over by the Same person.

I had the chance to sleep on this for 2 days last week while on a business trip in MN, at a Radisson. I had tried one in the store a few months ago and was not impressed. However, I do have to say it was one of the more comfortable hotel beds I have slept in (but keep in mind I don't usually stay in very high end hotels), which was helped by the down comforter and feather pillows. Actually, the latter may have been more helpful than the mattress. The mattress did inflate and deflate, but the numbers seemed fairly persnickety and arbitrary. I couldn't feel a difference between 35 and 45, or 35 and 55. Could only feel a difference when there was a huge gap between the numbers. Overall, I think the product is quite a gimmick, it feels cheaply constructed, and is terribly expensive.

This was the worst purchase I ever made. With back problems I feel I was misinformed and flat out lied to about the expectations of this bed. The control never gives an accurate reading twice, and I am in even more pain now than I ever was in previous beds, no matter what number it is on. I think the dogs bed would be more comfortable than this one!
