I got the Medium/Firm/X-firm combo stacked in that order (Medium on top). I am a bigger guy and the coil mattress I had for the previous 10 years was ultra firm, so I figured the more firm ILDs were the way to go. I am very happy with the firmness.

The foam was really nice. Clearly labelled, clean, well seamed, well cut, and well packaged.

It came in two boxes about 50 pounds each, tightly rolled up and double wrapped. The boxes are strong and held up very well in shipping. With all the protection, the shipper would have to push the boxes off a cliff to damage the foam in transit.

The cover itself is single sided, which is fine since there is no reason to flip the mattress. I like that it is just lightly quilted like a regular mattress cover. It's only about 1/4" thick on top so it doesn't interfere with the feel of the latex. The cover seems to be pretty well made overall. I think it will stand up over time. Of course it is replacable anyway if something happened to it.

The hardest part was putting it together... getting all the foam positioned on the cover in the right place. That would be a lot easier with two people (which I didn't have) or if I had better access to the other side of the bed. With the cover zipped up (zipping it up was much easier than I expected it to be), it looks just like any standard non-pillowtop mattress.

Overall I am very pleased with the purchase, especially considering it was only $1025 shipped. It should really last forever too, so it is a great value compared to the junk I could buy locally in the same price range.

Pros:
Great price! It is a lot better than a $2500 store bought mattress and customizable. I can also replace just a single part if something wears out (like the cover), so I don't see ever having to replace the whole thing.

Cons:
A bit hard to put together the Queen for one person... splitting the foam in half (I think that is an option) down the middle would make this at least 10x easier. I

First of all I have to say that this mattress far exceeded my expectations in every category. I've had chronic back pain for years and especially during the past year. I've been sleeping on a Ca King water bed during the last 20 years so all I needed to do was replace the mattress itself and the Select Sleep Latex mattress fit perfectly in the water bed frame.

I've done much research during the past year especially on this forum which was the most helpful. The review that finally put it all together for me was the first one by jag for this mattess (Thanks jag, great review!). It's hard to measure up to jags review of this mattress but let me just say that I agree 100% with everything in jag's review. I never thought a mattress could make such a big difference concerning chronic back pain but after a week, 20 years of chronic back pain is completely gone. It's now been 4 months since purchase and I'm now restfully sleeping throughout the night like I was when I was 10 years old.

After reading all the horror stories on this forum about purchasing a mattress, I was hesitant to make a mattress purchase online. But since this mattress is composed of soft, medium and firm layers that can be combined in any order for a customized comfort level, there was little risk that I would need to return the mattress due to the wrong firmness. It was a little cumbersome to put all the pieces together but it was certainly well worth the effort. Everything fit together perfectly and the quality is high in every aspect of this mattress.

In conclusion, I have to say that this is the best money that I have ever spent on a mattress and I would find it hard to believe that any other mattress could offer a better value.

Well it's been 3 months now, and I love the bed more than ever. I have sciatica and my back starts to hurt during the day. My back will hurt at bedtime, by the time I wake up, the pain is GONE.

I did add Sleep EZ's 1.5" 22 ILD topper to the inside cover for just a little more "cush" as I am a tummy sleeper (I know, horrible for bad backs).

Great price for a customizable latex bed

My husband & I had decided to go with a multi-core swap-out-able latex mattress so that we could "fine tune" the comfort and so that we could have different firmnesses on each side of the bed. We were initially leaning toward Flobeds due to their great reviews. However, I discovered that Sleepez.com was local (Phoenix, AZ) and advertised a similar product - their Select Sleep 8500 or 10000 models. So, we decided to check them out. Their "showroom" could not have been more rundown (although to be fair, they have a new showroom that I didn't check out since it's on the other side of town), so that didn't help my apprehension at all. (My husband commented that they're obviously keeping their overhead low :) )However, Shawn there seemed extremely knowledgeable and the construction of their beds really did seem to up to what we would expect the Flobed quality to be. So after doing BBB due diligence we decided to place our order.

According to Larry Wolf (owner?), their standard ILD's are 22 for soft toppers, 26 for soft cores, 32 for medium cores, 38 for firm cores, and 44 for extra firm cores. Please note that those ILDs are one category off from what Flobeds says (i.e sleepez's "soft" is Flobeds "medium") and that their topper at 22 ILD is fairly firm. When asked, Shawn (Larry's son) says that in their experience the lower ILDs don't last as long (more air/less rubber), so they decided to default to higher ILDs. After visiting their showroom, I decided that a 22 was, indeed, too firm for me, so they special ordered a 14-16 topper for us.

So, our order consisted of a king-size Select Sleep 10000 set:
- 2 layers of 2.8" Talalay (LI) latex that's customizable for firmness and able to be different between the two sides (we went with Soft/Medium and Medium/Firm).
- A 2.8" Talalay latex topper (of which we're getting a softer than their default).
- A 3-sided zippered mattress cover of cotton and wool.
- A $200 upgrade to a Euro Slat (bent beechwood with sliding cambers to adjust "spring") foundation with glide feet (no bedframe required) and headboard/footboard brackets attached.

The main differences between sleepez.com and Flobeds seems to be (since I haven't actually tried Flobeds, I'm just comparing specs):
- sleepez 10000 model 2.8" topper non-convoluted, Flobeds 2" topper convoluted
- sleepez wool from ?, Flobeds wool from Mt. Shasta
- sleepez cover 3-sided zipper, Flobeds cover 360 zipper (Shawn said they had a lot of problems with the 360 zipper breaking)
- sleepez standard foundations for the sets are either a solid box or box springs, Flobeds "entry-level" foundation is a fir slat foundation

Their warranty is for 10 years, we received free delivery since we're local (it's usually $75) and one free comfort swap delivery (usually there would be shipping costs). Also they have a 25% restocking fee if you don't want the mattress at all, so if you're not sure about latex, that could be a problem.

In summary, we have had the mattress for 4 nights now, so we're still working on the "fine-tuning" of the firmness (with the 2.8" special order 14 ILD topper, my Soft/Medium side is VERY soft - like a marshmallow, so I might change my side to a Medium/Medium). But with having the same customizable design as Flobeds, and the ability to adjust the firmness through the euroflex slat foundation as well, I'm confident that I'll be able to get it "just right". The big picture is that the quality of the bed: latex layers, mattress cover, foundation, glide legs, etc. meet all our expectations. So with a cheaper price than Flobeds, a great price for the Euroflex slat foundation, no set deadline on comfort firmness exchanges, free local delivery, etc. it seems to be the best choice for any local people wanting a latex mattress. As for people not in the Phoenix area, Sleepez would be another option for a latex mattress, and the cheaper price may outweigh any shipping issues or concerns.

- Good customer service
