This mattress felt great in the store and for the first 6-9 months after taking it home. However, at the one year mark, the body impressions started to interfere with the comfort. We rotated, but since we have queen and the divots basically fall in the center of the bed (where our rear ends go) it didn't change the position of the divots signficantly.
Now, at the two year mark, my husband and I wake up up in pain from body impressions and sleep divots which reduce sleeping surface and cause a ridge in the bed. Of course, at 1" they're not deep enough to fall under warranty coverage, but far more uncomfortable than we can deal with - and neither of us has a history of pain or bed pickiness (we had been sleeping on a 12 yr old basic innerspring). I should add that we're normal, even smallish people: 5'4 and 130lb, 5'7 and 145lbs.
Furthermore, this mattress was advertised as having "latex", although the store did not point out how much. After doing a more thorough review (triggered by the pain), turns out the latex is only in the quilted top portion of the mattress.
I disected part of the mattress the other day (since it is so uncomfortable I have no choice but to rip off the pillowtop and try another solution). There is A HALF INCH of latex-like material in the quilting, underneath a half inch of PU foam and poly batting. This is bascially worthless.
The rest of the mattress is entirely PU foam and springs, from what I could tell.
Terribly disappointed that we wasted $1600 on this piece of junk. I just hope I'm not poisoned by the chemical fire retardants as I complete my "mattress surgery", since I've noticed a strange chemical smell on my hands after cutting open and inspecting the mattress components....

Pros:
Felt great for 6-9 months - so if you plan to chuck it in a landfill in less than a year, go for it!

Cheap cheap foam components
Extremely overpriced, even at the perpetual "sale" prices
Poor warranty: body impressions must be 1.5", but if there is any sort of dirt or stain on the mattress the warranty is voided anyway.

the mattress is a piece of garbage..purchased in 2008 . first complaint was sent 2009. got nothing but the run around. sinks into hole in the middle . filed another complaint 2012 after seeing same complaint on local news stations. not only will i NEVER buy a serta mattress but i will never purchase anything by vera wang. they both should be a shamed of themselves. also the shopnbc infomercial is nothing but lies. found numerous complaints posted online.

Let me begin by stating that I am a physical therapist and treat lumbar spine patients on a daily basis, so I am not just an angry customer.... I purchased this mattress 3 months ago to replace a 15 year old mattress that had been causing me pain. After the first month of use, I wanted my old mattress back. There is a huge hole where I lay, so much so that my wife and I literally role into each other while in bed and need to hold on to the edges in order to keep from doing so. I am 5'10" and 195 lbs, so I'm not really considered a large man. After several complaints to the Mattress Direct store in Gulfport and several unanswered emails, I took pictures measuring the hole using Serta's system with the red piece of wood and weighted string. After a week, I received a replacement denial letter in the mail, stating that because my "hole" was not greater than 1.5 inches deep, I did not qualify for a replacement. Serta was kind enough to offer me a 20% discount on a replacement from Mattress Direct, so I guess I should be grateful that I'll only be ripped off $800 this time instead of the original $1000. I'm uncertain if this scam is being run nationwide or if this is simply a Gulfport, MS problem, but I also purchased 2 pillows with my mattress, and the quality of all 3 products was NOT the same as the quality of the showroom floor display mattress and pillows. All I can do now is to refer as many of my patients as possible AWAY from Serta and Mattress Direct. My Natural Charm is actually stored away in a closet now... I'm sleeping on a $300 Sam's Club mattress because I couldn't take the pain and restlessness any longer. I hope this review prevents people from making the same mistake I did... which was assuming these two name brands stood for quality and customer satisfaction.

Appreciated experiences of others who purchased this mattress. I had the same experience in that I was not satisfied with the Icomfort Revolution mattress and was stuck with the store policy of no return, just a choice of another mattress. After trying a number of mattresses, I settled on this Vera Wang Pillow Top. It felt amazing in the store, but I have yet to spend a night on it, as it will be delivered in early August. Glad to know others have been happy with this mattress a few months in. I will post another review after a couple of months use. Relieved to know there is not much of a smell. The Icomfort smelled awful for days and days, even with the window open and fans going.

Pros:
Difficult to rate this mattress without having slept on it, so I will rate it based on how it felt in the store and what I have read about it. Will post more later after having used it for a couple of months.

The Vera Wang Natural Poise Super Pillow Top is a phenemonal mattress for us. Yes there are slight impressions already and I am sure it will worsen, but the bed itself is to die for in terms of comfort. Still feels like you are floating on a cloud and I do not believe that even when there are impressions, that the mattress will be uncomfortable. The Super pillow top is at least 3.5 inches thick if not more and seems that it may give a little, but will remain comfortable.
If you are planning on getting this mattress, I would say it is a good buy. A little overpriced, but very comfortable. Shop around as I found cheaper prices on the internet for about 1650 including shipping, ours was 2400.00.

Most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on. Seems to have quality materials, helped my insomnia immensely.
Cons:
Some body impressions beginning to form at the 3 month mark, We are rotating the bed every month in hopes to lessen this issue, but only time will tell as with all pillowtops, this does occur. |
