Quality Latex Mattress (soy)??

So, now it's a contest between the HR foam and the latex mattress!

I just slept on my friend's new latex mattress (International Bedding--Origins soy latex mattress). Here are the specs:

Base: (2) 3 1/2 inch convoluted soy support layers--1.8 lb density (28-32 ILD)

Top: (1) latex comfort layer (22 ILD)
(1) layer convoluted soy (22 ILD)

It felt a little too soft at first, but then i grew to like it, and i slept better than i had in a while. It's not a bargain, but cheaper than other latex mattresses at $1000 for a king. The *motion transfer* was almost non-existent, too, which was a great plus.

Wondering: Is this a good mattress? Will it last and keep its shape? WHY does it have less motion transfer than other latex mattresses? Does the softness have to do with that??

Thanks for any advice! :)

Ok, i'm rereading my post, and i'm a little confused by the specs. Is the base HR foam or latex? Does 1.8 lb density suggest that it's HR or memory foam, not latex? Hmmm...

Ok, just read a review by someone of this mattress, and i THINK that there's not much latex in it, after all! Think that the base is just conventional foam, and there's a thin layer of latex at the top. Does this sound correct based on specs? :(

Ok, i talked to the salesman again, and he confirmed that the base is soy-based HR foam. Hmmm! He said it's more resilient with soy in it, but it IS only 1.8 density, so...And there's only one layer of latex, and it's an inch thick. So, i'd be paying $1000 for a soy-based foam bed, pretty much. Sounds very expensive for what it is, doesn't it!

Any comments or suggestions on this bed?

Stay away from 1.8 lb. foam.  It won't hold up.

BTW, I read that eating soy is not good for you, popular to contrary belief.  I think the article said we can't digest it properly, unless it is fermented.

Thanks--i thought that 1.8 wasn't a very high density. Crazy how they're trying to sell an expensive mattress with such low-density foam.

Yes, i read that about soy as well--very interesting!
