Problem with my new Tempur-Pedic

I bought the Tempur-pedic Classic. I'm a side sleeper. My arms have been getting numb. I'm used to lying on my stomach and propping myself up on my elbows to read before I fall asleep. I had no problem doing this on my old spring mattress. With the Tempur-pedic, my lower arms are numb within minutes. So I stopped reading in bed (can't lie on my back to read due to sinuses).

But I'm also waking up with numb arms just from sleeping. I hug a body pillow while I sleep, and it's as if any time my lower arm is slightly inclined from my elbow, it goes numb. Again, never had this problem with other beds, just the Tempur-pedic. Then my lower arms are sore all day long. It's as if I can't get any circulation to that part of my arms unless I sleep with my arms perfectly flat on this bed.

Anyone else have this problem? I'm thinking I need to trade the Classic in for a different model. Should I go firmer or softer for this problem?

Thanks, Gary. I'm thinking of giving the Cloud Supreme a try. It really did feel like the most comfortable one in the store.

Sore shoulders and numb arms for a side sleeper usually mean a too-firm mattress. Actually, I had a similar problem at first with my TP. But, it has been breaking in nicely.

Also, if you use a supportive pillow, like a neck pillow that gives good support under your neck, you may find that your mattress-side shoulder won't be digging into the mattress as much.

I ordered the "side pillow" from TP a few days ago. Can't wait to try it!

You may find that it helps your shoulder situation. Personally, I didn't like the side pillow, as it locks me into a single place on the pillow to rest my head. I like to be able to sleep on any point on the pillow I wish. I absolutely love the TP neck pillow. I have it in King, and I can roll over from side to side, and my head and neck get the proper support no matter where I end up.

On a side note, I have yet to find a neck pillow from any other company that feels as good as the TP. Tempurpedic's foam is definitely different from other memory foams. It has an almost gel-like quality compared to others which range from feeling like standard poly foams to feeling like a bag of cement mix.

I thought the neck pillow was for back sleepers, which is why I didn't get it. Glad to hear it works for side sleeping too. If the side pillow doesn't work out, I'll sell it and get the neck pillow instead. Thanks for the input! smiley

What is the Exact name/model of TP neck pillow you are using?

are you a side sleeper? Thanks

I'm not Gary, so I can't comment on what he's using, but I went to the tempur-pedic site and there is only one neck pillow. The name is NeckPillow, and it comes in 7 sizes. It's under the "therapy" section of the pillow section on their site. I think that's probably the pillow he's talking about.

I'm a side/stomach/back sleeper. I'm all over the place. But, I probably only sleep maybe 10% on my back. I'm trying to sleep less on my stomach, and force more side-sleeping, which neck pillows do so well. Although, if I use the lower side, they can be OK for stomach sleeping, too.

The one I have (my wife has, actually, but I borrow) is the TP King Medium Neckpillow. I tried a Sensus foam neck pillow from Absolute Comfort. And, I had a Novaform neck pillow from Costco. But, they aren't nearly as good as the TP.

I also am having problems wiith my Cloud Supreme & the warrarty  people are giving me a hard time! It is a long story so when I charge my laptop I will let you all know.

I am very pissed aboout this! $3,000 on a bed & it still isn't right. The Ashley';s store delivered it 7 2 monthee later it ws still so hard it killed my already messed up neck, back & hips. I got a man from Tempur-Pedic & he informed me after they brought another one they would make it rigfht as the comppany was horrible they jut took ooff & left me with this bed whichwas dirty (yeah you read that right, dirty). The foundation & original bbed I was brought was put outside oon my patio & grass so I asked them what person with common sense would do that thus the reason for leaviing me with the dirty mattress when they brough tit in i guess.

Well another company they hired as I refused to have the same company come back to my house & they hovered over me stating "Well are you going to take it?" I couldn't even in my own house lay on it & feel comfortable to see iif I really liked iit! i didn't follow my gut and refusse it, and it has killed my back every night for 6 weeks. I wrote the warrranty company & the woman told me to take off cover or pad & sleep on it with  out them to deal with it basically. I informed her in my e-mail I wrote her a couple hours ago if they didn't make it right I was wanting my  money back & or I would go to the BBB. $3,000 is a lot of money to spend on a bed & they not do right by you!!!

Oh! And they never did get back to me with a new foundation ever!

Very disappointed as i was so looking foorward to having this bed.

Sorry to break it to you, but you sound sort of incomprehensible.  I wouldn't even know where to start with your complaint.  I see you have all of 1 singular post.  ....

Folks, we'll see if this person is credible or not.  Remember, this is the internet.  Anyone can claim anything.
