Hi,

My wife is complaining about back pain since she delivered a baby three month ago. I am looking to change the mattress set as current one is not helping with the back pain.

Could some one suggest me the mattress set for my needs.

Here is my criteria:

1) Budget : $1000
2) Brand: Sealy
3) Medium Firm.
4) Size: King

Thanks

munnar: I am sorry to disappoint you, but most posters to this web site either build there own or use the independent latex mattresses companys. Someone may have some knowledge of the type of bed you are looking for, but it may take some time for them to respond.

Munnar--assess what firmness your current bed is, and then decide what you need based on it. Most people on this site would recommend one of the firmest Sealys, if you're set on that brand--most of the big "S" companies use cheap foam in the softer pillow tops, and it breaks down quickly.

If you're really set on that mattress brand, get a firm model and then get foam (latex, memory foam or poly foam) toppers as necessary. Lots of threads in this forum about toppers. Sealy also makes some latex models, which i'm not sure are great (there are some comments about them in this forum), but they might be better than the traditional innersprings AND they might give you insight into what latex feels like.

Add a latex topper if necessary.

electracat - thanks for your advise. I am not restricted to Sealy but after searching through google, I find it as top company. I am open to other company brands also. what is topper? where do I get them?

Toppers are 1"-3" foam layers that go on the top of the mattress, to soften it up or just make it more comfortable. They are available in different foam and fiber variations. Do a search in this forum and you'll find LOTS of info on them!

I do not recommend memory foam. It breaks down too quickly. It's okay as a topper or one thin - 2" or less - layer, but not as a whole mattress. That's my opinion based on experience.

Get yourself any mattress with good springs, as firm as possible. Try it with a latex topper. and/or memory foam topper.
If that doesn't work, cut it open, replace the pu foam with latex, hr foam and/or memory foam like Sensus.
This will work and you can do it for way less than $1000.
