Ok, after extensive research & comparison shopping I've finally decided on my new mattress -- a latex one from Ikea.

But now I have to figure out what to put it on. I currently have a regular spring mattress on a wooden slatted futon frame. Can I use the old mattress as a box spring for the new one? Or should I put the new mattress directly on the futon frame?

I've searched the previous posts here but can't find an answer to this precise situation ...
