New Mattress Build - Advice appreciated!

My wife and I are going to put together our own king size latex mattress.  There is a foam supplier in our city that can purchase Latex International Talatech latex foam in twin XL size in 6” thickness.  The foam supplier then said he could cut the 6” thick foam in half creating two 3” layers.  We are planning on doing three 3” latex layers with a zipper terry cloth cover.  So now I have to decide what ILD foam I should order.  We are both primarily side sleepers (my wife sometimes sleeps on here stomach).  I am 6’3” 275lbs and she is 5’9” 165 lbs.  We prefer our bed to be firm.  We were thinking 3” of ILD 44 on the bottom, 3” of ILD 36 in the middle and 3” of ILD 28 for the top.  We already have a St. Dormiere wool mattress pad.  We were considering the sleepez route but the local pricing is very good…so even if we have to purchase additional foam to customize it will still be cheaper.  What do you guys think?

Thanks,

Dan

FWIW, I bought a SleepEZ 10000, three 3" layers talalay blend, i'm 190 lbs, 6'2" , the F/M/S is a really good medium firm mattress.  I just found that the slatted wood foundation made the mattress much too firm with some knarly pressure points on shoulders (I have a bad right one), but it was pretty good on an S&F box spring although I wasn't too keen about having soft latex on a wire grid base (i.e. a box spring).

You'll have to ask an expert for your weights though.

Keep one think in mind - foundations can radically change the feel of a latex mattress - on pine slats, it was to firm for me.  Box springs, fine.  On a solid top adjustable foundation, it was like the latex couldn't breathe, the bouncy feel went bye bye.

I have changed my plan.  Now I am thinking 3" of ILD36, 3" of ILD 32, 2" of ILD 28 and 2" of ILD 24.  My plan is to build this bed, there will be slats between the storage cubbies, do you think that will be enough for the mattress to breathe?
