Natural Mattres Search? Have you tried Hastens, Vi Spring, Nilsen, Lavital, Savoir, Royal Pedic?

I have started researching a natural mattress search a few weeks ago. Natural means to me NO FIRE RETARDANTS of any kind and no foam including latex.. I am absolutely determined to find something without foam or fire retardants. It seems almost impossible unless you get into a 10 000 dollar range. The only latex free/ FR free mattresses I could find are the very expensive european brands. They are all spread out all over the country and I am not able to fly everywhere to try them out. Can you please share with me your experiences with the above brands?

Can I ask why no latex?
Plenty of places make organic cotton/wool mattress' but, I can only imagine that would be like sleeping on a futon.

You might want to check Vivetique. They have reasonably priced organic mattresses, but very firm. McRoskey has no foam, but they do treat with boric acid and the batting is made of cotton and polyester. You can get one made with cotton only with a a doctor's prescription They are expensive and very firm! I had a McRoskey and hated it. Have tried Vivetique and Royalpedic at showrooms and found them to be brick hard.
