Mattress Exchange experience at OMF????????

Just wondering if anyone has actually gone ahead and returned a new mattress at the Original Mattress Factory, and paid the 25% fee to get a different model,  and how that experience was.  I recall Zzzzzzpleazzzzsaying she was going to try to return her ultra plush ortho for a extra firm a while back, but no follow up on this site.  I have an extra firm ortho and still find it a bit uncomfortable, and would like some feedback on how OMF handles such a situation. WIth the help of a fiberbed, I have enhanced and improved my bed and the quality of sleep though.

Actually, the exchange fee is 25-50% depending on the model you're exchanging your mattress for. I imagine that an "upgrade" would cost you 50% of the original price, while the 25% would apply to a less expensive model. Just my theory, though, you'd have to speak to someone at OMF about it.

I've been waffling on the mattress issue since I have a one year period in which to make an exchange...there's no rush, so I'm taking my time with this. I've been thinking about exchanging the entire set for a flame retardant-free ortho firm set, but that requires a doctor's note. Not sure if it's worth the hassle and extra expense, however, I have been experiencing more migraines lately and the increased frequency does coincide with the purchase of my OMF mattress set, so this is something I need to discuss with my doctor before making any definitive decisions.

If I were you, I would be looking at alternative mattress toppers, or using another topper in conjunction with your fiberbed, rather than purchase a plusher model. The ultra-plush really doesn't feel anything like the showroom model and has gotten increasingly more uncomfortable. You can always add toppers to a firm mattress, but you can't do anything with a plush mattress that causes back pain -- aside from drastic measures like mattress surgery.

Just something to consider.

You get a YEAR to exchange a mattress?  That's amazing!  Just wish they'd show you exactly what is IN  a bed.  That's hard to find out.

I know, right? That was one of the major selling points for me.

There are actually cut-open sections of the mattress next to each model in the OMF showroom. You can stick your hands inside and feel the foam if you want. I guess it helps if you know what high quality foam feels like. :-)
