We bought a Simmons Black Label Rosalyn about earlier this year. Both sleep great for months. Now I'm tossing and turning, and waking up with hip, arm, and back pain. We liked our firm mattress, but it's settled Hard (capital H). After some reading, I think a 2 inch Latex topper might help. My boyfriend sleeps hot and sweats at night sometimes, so memory foam is out. Does a 16-18 ILD  2-in latex topper (dunlop process) sound about right, or better med-firm 28 ILD? I'm 5'6" 120 lbs, and boyfriend is 5'10" 210 lbs, both back/side sleepers. Sleep Warehouse has the 2inch latex at $269 for 16-18 ILD and $299 for 28 ILD. Foam by Mail offers 2 inch Talalay 20 ILD for $209, and 32 ILD for $214, although based on another poster's pics, it looks like they have some quality issues.

Any suggestions? My back, arms, and hips thank you.

I am not the person to respond to you since I had just recently purchased a FlowBeds and really do not have any issues with a mattress needing some kind of topper.

If heat is a major concern, sleeplikeabear sells Celsion latex which is suppose to breath better and sleep cooler. I have not tried it, but if I were buying a latex topper (and I don't like to be hot either) I would probably try that. In general, latex is cooler than memory foam, but heat build up can still be an issue.

I think they have ILDS of 15, 21, 28. Most memory foam has ILDs of around 13-15, so if you like the soft feel of that you might want to go with the lower ILD. If you like a firmer feel, 21 might be better. Flobeds comes with a convoluted latex topper (not sold seperately as far as I know), which they tell me has an effective ILD of around 14. That seems to work well for many people.

You can buy in 1,2,3" increments. Sometimes it makes sense to buy in 1" increments, so you can vary it more easily. You probably need at least 2" though (if the current mattress is so firm), so you may want to start with that and add 1" increments if needed.

Celsion at sleeplikeabear is more expensive though, but they do have a 30 day return policy.

Some people have questioned the quality and accuracy of foambymail latex, so I would be a bit concerned buying from them.

As always, may want to call a couple of the retailers you are considering to see what they recommend.
