Wouldn't it be useful to have one thread to compare what latex mattress specfications different sleepers find comfortable?! If you agree, please share your latex mattress experience in the following format.  (Just copy, paste, & edit).

  • Model & size (vendor): DIY King
    • Foundation (vendor):
    • Cover & mattress pad:
  • Him: side sleeper. 5' "   lbs.
    • Layers -- Bottom: 3" ILD. Middle: 3" ILD. Top: 3" ILD. Pillow:
    • His rating: /5.  Discomforts:
  • Her:  side sleeper. 5' "  lbs.

    • Layers -- same  Pillow:
    • Her rating: /5.  Discomforts:
  • Full review: link

Lets keep it easy to browse & compare specs & ratings! Please please...

  • NO questions or discussions in this thread.  Please start a new topic.
  • To get someone's attention to ask a question, click on their name. From there, you can "send a private message" or to find other topics they have posted in.
  • Latex or latex combo only please. (But feel free to copy this to start new threads for other mattress types.)
  • You need to post your weight for the ILD info to be useful. (ILD is resistance to weight.) If you're reluctant to share this, consider posting at least your target weight or a weight range. The point is for shoppers to be able to compare what mattress other people with similar bodies & sleep positions have found comfortable.

For example (hypothetical, since we don't have a latex mattress yet):

  • Model & size (vendor): DIY Queen bed (from FBM-- Foambymail)
    • Foundation: Wood slats (Amazon)
    • Cover & mattress pad: 8" terrycloth cover, wool mattress pad
  • Him: Stomach/side sleeper. 5'9" 155-160lbs. Target weight: 150lbs. Athletic (runner).
    • Layers -- Bottom: 5" HD36-HQ foam. Middle: none. Top: 3" 20 ILD (FBM). Pillow: synthetic-fill (costco)
    • His rating: 4/5.  Discomforts: No pressure points. Back problems gone.
  • Her: Back/side sleeper. 5'7". Target weight: 155lbs. Curvy.
    • Layers -- Same. No choice of sides.  Pillow:  same
    • Her rating: 3/5.  Discomforts: Wake-up after lying on side for awhile. Some pain in the shoulders. Would prefer a thicker top layer to cushion shoulders. Would like to add another soft layer.
  • Full review: (insert link here if you have a more detailed review in another thread)

Repeat, no comments please. Just similar brief posts about you & your latex mattress. Hope this succeeds. Put a lot of thought into the format!
