HD36-HQ or LUX-HQ as base?

I'm hoping to order a foam mattress and toppers from FoamByMail. We don't like our mattress TOO firm (we're side-sleepers, mostly, though boyfriend likes firmer mattresses), but we want it to be firm enough and supportive. Should i get a 6" base of HD36-HQ or LUX-HQ? Or a 3" base of HD36-HQ and a 3" mid-section of LUX-HQ? We're putting a topper on it--probably 2" of super-soft foam or egg crate (not sure yet). Thanks!!
