Gardner mattresses, anyone?

I have been looking for the proverbial mom & pop mattress manufacturer, who might be able to make me my dream mattress - double sided/flippable, good quality innerspring, with minimal padding to wear out, and what there is mostly latex. For use with toppers to obtain desired comfort. I notice that we have custom mattress maker, Gardner, nearby, which still will make two sided mattresses. Anyone know anything about them?

As a matter of fact, I did, but the posts seemed primarily about their latex mattresses, and I am curious about the innerspring ones.

I'm sleeping on one of their latex mattresses right now.   I don't know that much about their spring mattrresses but they are a great company to deal with.  I believe they still make mattresses the old fashion way....by hand and made to order.   I did one comfort exchange on my latex and they  gave me no problem whatsoever.    Here is one tip though......go to the store right at the factory in Salem, Mass and you will get slightly lower prices PLUS the ability to deal with the owner, Gardner Sisk, directly.  Tell him exactly what you want and I'm betting he will make it that way for you.   Whatever you get will be much better than any of the S brands or furniture store beds.

Budgy, yes they only sell direct from about 4 factory outlet stores as I recall--1 in NH and 3 in Mass..

Hellbed,

If I was in the market for a new mattress Gardner would be the very first place I would be.I've been to 3 of their stores and each time was treated like a real person with no "gotta purchase now" attitude.Their salespeople are very knowledgable about their product line.

As a matter of fact when I was having doubts about my online latex mattress they offered solutions to fix my problem rather than try to steer me towards one of their beds.

Just great people in my book and no...I don't own one of their mattresses (yet). If I were to buy a bed today I would option for their full sacro, 2 sided flippable mattress with a real boxspring. It is a very firm mostly cotton filled old-time mattress.

If you are interested in one of their spring mattresses better act quick as their Winter sale is over Feb.22nd.

Jeff
