Finding a good Latex mattress in the Store, especially the LA area, AND know anything about Aireloom Luxury Latex?

My husband and I would like to buy a good latex mattress, but my husband does not want to buy on-line.  He wants to go into a store, and lay down on the mattress in order to make a decision.

We have tried the following latex mattresses:

Serta - Vera Wang firm and plush (the firm was too firm, the plush was too plush - why couldn't there be a happy medium...)

Ortho Latex - seemed comfortable, but when he moved, I could feel it.  Not interested.

Aireloom Luxury Latex - seemed good, but I went home to the internet and I couldn't get much information on the spingless models.  In fact, the only customer review I could find, good or bad, spoke about a guy that had a dip problem after 4 months.

Questions:

1) Of the latex mattresses we can try in the store, what brand would you recommend we try out?

2) We live in West Los Angeles, does anyone know a good store with lots of latex mattresses we should check out?

2) Does anyone know about the Aireloom Luxury Latex model?  Good or Bad?

Thanks, Karin

Most S-brand latex mattresses are not all latex. They feature a latex core --sometimes all synthetic as in the case of the Sealy Springfree-- and a "comfort" layer made of the same low grade, quick to sag PU you'll find in a standard innerspring mattress. Be sure to inquire about the construction of any latex mattress you are interested in. Don't take the salesman's word for it. Most of the time they are misinformed or don't really know their inventory. Call or e-mail the manufacturer directly for information.

Many stores in the LA area carry Englander latex mattresses. They have a natural Talalay latex core of 30 ILD with a softer comfort layer. You might want to check it out. Very few stores carry more than a couple of latex mattresses since they are considered more of a specialty item, but most stores can order a specific mattress as long as they carry that particular manufacturer, so you can shop around for a price if you find one you really like.

In general the latex mattresses that get the best reviews are the mattress kits ordered from on-line retailers like Flobeds and SleepEZ, because you can customize the comfort level for each partner and easily swap out components inside the zippered cover. But I can understand why your husband would rather go to a store and lie on a mattress before buying it. If you don't mind a drive out to Chino Foam Sweet Foam sells all latex mattress kits along the lines of SleepEZ and Flobeds. You can try before you buy and even take it home with you the same day or have it shipped if you want to think it over.
