just wondering...

i have some foam that needs to be sliced, and i've heard talk of electric knives on this forum; can i get a cheap one ($15-$20 range) or is there a particular one that is needed?

Thank you!

I have never cut latex, but I have cut PU foam with an old cheap electric knife and it worked great.

Thanks--it's for slicing PU foam. I just bought a rather inexpensive one, and i think it'll do the trick!

go cheap.  I found mine at a thrift store for under $5.  Walgreens has them for under $10.

I concur. I got one at Target for like $12 and it works great for cutting any kind of foam. The one that we had the most difficulty cutting - thought it might burn the motor up - was a 4" or so slice of Omalon foam. That stuff is DENSE! What I had was just a small sample piece and I could not get it in a higher ILD but if I could I would buy a 6" core of that stuff for a base!

But the cheap electric knife did make it through the omalon and I've also cut 4" of HR high ILD foam with it, no problems. Latex, memory foam, everything...

Yep, electric knife, not expensive, works great.  I have one for foam in my business, used it for ten years now, still going strong!
