Considering Twin XL's on our king bed

Desperately looking for a solution to our problem! My husband (6' 1" 240lbs) and I (5' 6" 140lbs) are looking into replacing our kingsize bed with two twin xl beds. One of our issues is that my husband tosses and turns frequently and roughly throught the night. The motion constantly wakes me up! I am a very light sleeper. He has had rotater cuff surgery and is always adjusting his sleeping position. He prefers a firm mattress which is fine with me. It seems that no matter what type of mattress we lay on, it transfers motion. Even if it is slight, I know it will wake me up. Our solution seems to lay in the two mattress decision. I was wondering about covering the two mattresses with a topper to blend them together. Any thoughts on this? Any suggestions on where to get the toppers? I am so tired all the time....we are seriously in need of help! I was thinking of getting only new mattresses because we already have split box springs that seem to be in fine shape. Any, any advice is welcomed. We live in eastern Pennsylvania and have been to at least 7 stores so far and everytime we leave a store we are no closer to a decision than when we entered it!

I would just get two twin XL toppers instead of one king size one.  If you get one king size, you would still feel pulling on your side when he tosses and turns.  Just use 2 separate twin XL beds next to each other and you can make it up with the same covering in the morning.  I would suggest separate sheets and blankets too or you will continue to feel his tossing and turning.

Putting two twin mattresses together look just fine.  That way you have no movement on your mattress.  If you cover a king size sheet over you will still have some problems, but if that is what you want fine.  You could have twin sheeting and really what is wrong with that?  Does someone see the bedroom that really cares?

If neither snores you are ahead of the game, LOL.

I had arthro surgery for rotator cuff impingement years ago.  For me, Tempurpedic has been the very best.  I went with the  regular Cloud and I like it a lot.  Split Kings can be expensive because it's same as buying two twin XL mattress sets, but offers lot of flexibility.

Latex and memory foam mattresses are not for not transferring motion.  Individual coil spring mattresses knock down motion transfer a lot too.

We've had two XL Twins inside an Eastern King frame for years. I wouldn't have it any other way. We also have mattresses with zippered covers so we can customize the comfort levels, ie; latex, etc. purchased from here: http://baybed.com/ Over the two mattress sets I have an Eastern King size Omicron foam pad, as well as the same size CuddleBed from Costco.com. It's all tied together to make one, big, comfy bed!

Similar problem. Hubby's entire body twitches which kept waking me up. I am a light sleeper too. We went from a queen pillowtop to two twin XL latex mattresses on their own adjustable bases framed inside a wooden bed frame. Have separate toppers and fitted sheets and one king size flat sheet and quilt. Problem solved! Don't feel him getting into bed or the twitches. Sooo happy to finally be sleeping through the night.

I forgot to mention that we have King size sheets and comforter/bedspread vs separate sheets. I still don't feel much movement from my husband, nor does he feel me tossing and turning or getting out of bed. I prefer having it made up as if it were a King size bed, but with the benefit of our own mattresses.
