We have been comparing product & prices of latex beds and we are interested in dunlap latex.  Which appears to be most eco friendly.  We also do not want latex/mattress/cover that has any chemicals that are meant to make the mattress flame retardant as we don't want to breathe all the off gasses for the 8-9 hours of sleep.  From research, the organic cotton & wool blend make the mattress naturally flame retardant plus the wool helps minimize bed bugs, not to mention that i makes the bed feel cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.  Also, bed bugs do not thrive on latex, thus less allergens.

I was curious to see compare prices on organic cover 10" king mattress....lets say from Sleep EZ vs Savvy Rest and it is a significant $500 difference.  So, I am doing a little more digging......this is what I uncovered so far:

Coco-latex is made in India, eco friendly, bio degradable, etc. - This appears to be used by savvyrest.

There is a lab report on SavvyRest's website that shows that most of the chemicals that were tested were not detected.

this is what caught my eye and made me wonder how many undisclosed chemicals are used by this company to make the latex since they claim that:

"Fire Retardant Cores / Sheets

Latex Green has designed and manufactured a Flame Retardant mattress, which conforms to BS and EU Standards. On the tests carried out by SATRA Technology Centre, it was confirmed that FR mattress meet the requirements of Schedule I part III of the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988, (amended 1989 & 1993).

In the first application during the test it was observed that there were NO flames after the removal of the flaming source and smouldering ceased after 21 seconds .In the second application, flames self-extinguished 4 seconds after the removal of the flaming source and smouldering ceased 24 seconds later. According to BS standards the time should be less than 60 seconds."

So.....what I uncovered about Latex-Green makes me a little concerned about how 'all natural' and healthy it really is.
