Can I buy a new bedframe and just add euro slat foundation to it? Provided it has center support?

I would really like to get a new frame that is aesthetically what I prefer and make sure it has a center support and then buy most likely the IKEA euro slats. Is this possible?

would love suggestions of good foundations (not very high) for a budget.... i've seen some rec'd on amazon that are basically the platform frame as well as tht foundation, so not sure how this is different then adding ikea's slats to a "regular" bedframe

looking at platforms on overstock and see that they come with center feet and the slats not removeable (which i can always add more i guess??) are center feet OK vs a center beam?

Meanwhile, evaluate your new Latex mattress on the floor to know what you've got.  It will just be missing the bottom ventilation, so it will sleep a bit warmer.

I have not found a platform I like, so I'm going to try building one that features:

  • 13" of clearance below for under bed storage.
  • FLAT, continuous slatted platform surface to support the mattress (1x4s with 1" gaps for ventilation).
  • Side and center rails for each sleeper (4 rails) over 6 legs.

If you use a traditional bed frame, you will likely need to put a slatted foundation unit in place of the usual box springs... of usual box springs height.  The IKEA slats presume you have a platform that is ready to receive a mattress without the box springs beneath it, so it may not work right on just any old frame.  Me, I don't get the convex adjustable euro slats... perhaps the adjustment bit could allow you to affect zoning, but I don't like the idea of having to move 150 lbs. of Latex to tweak the slat adjustment... and flat seems better than convex.  All in all, I would go for a SOLID FLAT SLATTED surface and let the Latex mattress do its thing.

Lol my SO just said he wanted it 12 inches off the ground and wants to build it, after I spent all morning searching and found a gorg platform (failed to say, i was looking at platform style frames) for $250. With center support and slats, etc..

Any suggestions for building? As in plan..? And I agree I think just regular slats not the euro ones..

I have a plan but I need to build it to prove it worthwhile.
