JimSoCal: if you haven't found this website regarding, "Joint industry foam standards and guidelines" all about ILD (IFD). Well, here it is! This link will bury you and give you more information than you ever wanted to know. The best thing about it is, it should help us realize how complex, and convoluted, the subject is. After reading this you'll be more than willing to go back to a simple, soft/medium/firm/extra firm, designation. But for me the important thing is that this business about ILD (IFD) is much more complex and complicated than I had any idea of. When we see these numbers given by various manufacturers it's no wonder that many times what they call firm is somebody else's medium, or some other firmness grade.
